This look is dedicated to Bob Marley’s colorful and easy going attitude. Fashion can be an intimidating game with all the trends but who says you can’t do designer casual. And let us not forget how we do winter in Los Angeles. The fashion lovers on the West Coast have California Casual in their DNA.

Winter on the West Coast varies and can be a roller coaster of a season; some days hot some days freezing and other days its everything in between. Which is why I try to pull together looks that are perfect for warmer days but can also keep me warm on chilly days. Faux fur, in all colors, is an essential California Casual staple. They’re the perfect throw on jacket and not to mention animal friendly too! Another California stable is either a classic white tee or a vintage show t-shirt. But since this is a fashion blog, we pared this look up with a vintage designer t-shirt. The perfect touch to match up with this Bob Marley inspired rasta color scheme.

Today’s outfit post is dedicated to the diversity of stripes! It’s definitely a style trade that doesn’t always come easy and may require a little planning. Which is why today we make a case for one of fashions favorite patterns. STRIPES!

Some fashionistas would say that stripes can pair well with absolutely anything. And from experience, we can confidently say that statement is true. They could be vertical stripes or horizontal stripes. And you can wear them with solids or with more prints. Which ever way you wear it you’re bound to look timeless and fashion forward.

Here are our tips for wearing stripes:

1. CHOOSE YOUR COLOR PALLETE
When wearing multiples prints make sure to choose a color palette to revolve your look around. If you’re wearing Red & Black stripes, make sure you match up your accessories to have a little black and red too.

2. DRESS FOR YOUR BODY TYPE
If you’re going to wear stripes, make sure you wear the right style that will complement you’re body type. If you’ve got curves you can show off, wear horizontal stripes to make you look taller. And if you’re petite and thin, try going for horizontal stripes to give your look some shape.

Pairing patterns, especially of the same style, can be an intimidating task. But stick to these tips and you’ll do just fine. And don’t forget to have fun with it!

Every so often we dare ourselves to try new and bold designs, whether it’s that floral spring dress that caught our eye in the window or a vintage find at a thrift store. What we love most at Fashion Frequency is mixing and matching the exciting with the everyday essentials.

We think it looks super chic when you pair bold and unique pieces with casual items like denim blue jeans. We love the shape and pattern of this Victorian Era & Marie Antoinette inspired blouse. It’s made of rich materials and the color really stands out and will definitely need the perfect piece to complement it. That’s where the denim comes in! We think the blue jeans really bring down the intensity of the top and helps takes us from black tie event to street style chic.
