New Yorkers are knowns for their chic but functional street style. They’re always on the go but always look their best no matter where they are on the Manhattan grid. New York City is a place best experienced on foot so on our week trip to the city we had to make sure we were comfortable and fashionable too.

We had a bright and early morning to run some quick errands to run in the city, so we used this opportunity to wear some of our most comfortable clothes and sneakers. But that’s not to say we didn’t look chic! A great tip for anyone who wants to look fashionable but feeling comfortable while on a trip to the Big Apple, be sure to pack a pair of platform sneakers with you. They are a must have for all day sight seeing and will keep your feet strong through all the walking.

I also made sure to carry on a wide purse with lots of room for shopping on the go. There’s so much to see in the city, you’ll never know what you’ll pick up on the way. But the golden rule of NYC street style is making sure you feel comfortable enough in your outfit to take on the city that never sleeps.

New York City is the type of place that has its own hustle and flow. You can feel it in the streets and even on the rooftops of the skyscrapers. So today we roamed the city and embodied that energy with style.

The concrete jungle is mesmerizing but we thought it needed a little color. So we pulled together this bold yellow number and did a little sightseeing too. We love how 70s fashion is back in style so we really went for that look and pulled together some bold flared trousers and a flowy white top. And because the tops and bottoms have so much shape we decided on solid colors and tried to stay away from any loud patterns and florals.

Although we went with minimal accessories we still needed a small statement pieces, so we thought to throw on a checkered bandana. I think it goes perfectly with the straw hat. Together they add an element of casual cool to this look.

It’s nice to show some shoulder and I love a nice crop top on a summers day. Which is why here at Fashion Frequency we’re head over heels for all the new bare shoulder and ruffled sleeves trends. Its the best of both words!

We decided to style this look including one of our favorite tops to wear this season. The reason why we love this one most especially is because of how flattering it is to the figure. We love the bralette front of the top which compliments the figure and is extremely flattering if you’re little flat chested and need a much needed boost from some shapes. The sleeves have the most fun and flirty ruffles. And they even match the ruffles along the side seam of the gingham pants. Don’t be afraid to wear some loud pants if you’re wearing quiet accessories or a solid top. It’s all about finding the perfect contrast and balance.
